The drawstring pant is a brand-new block for us, and is one that is highly requested! This mixed weave brown Khadi is also a fabric that has never been featured in a The ANJELMS Project collection before, as it is hand-loomed using many different coloured threads to achieve a natural, raw, and textured colourway of brown.
The story of this fabric is one that we are privileged to be a part of, as we discovered it on our recent trip to India on a day when we visited the weavers who hand spin and handloom all our natural Khadi Cotton with The Stitching Project in Pushkar. We saw this lightweight, natural multicoloured weave and instantly fell in love, and we believe that the half sleeve top is the perfect staple top to feature in this fabric. The unique properties of our hand-spun, hand-loomed Khadi means that the feeling of the completed garment on your skin is one of the best in the world.
The drawstring pant is a loose, relaxed-fitting unisex pant, that fastens with a drawstring. This means that it can be tied at the waist or hips, depending on how you like to wear your pants. The bottom hem falls perfectly at the ankle, and its lightweight weave means that it is the ultimate breathable and comfortable wear. Perfect to throw over bathers in the summer, but opaque enough that there is no sheerness to them! Style with a peasant top for a relaxed 70’s beachside look, or style them up for an evening look with a cord jacket and brown boots.
As always, our garments are designed in Fremantle, Western Australia. Made ethically from 100% hand-loomed Khadi Cotton in Pushkar, India by The Stitching Project. Designs are hand carved onto wooden blocks. Then Pawan, our block printer at The Stitching Project places each block onto the ink board. This process is repeated a hundred times over with amazing precision and experience to create the perfect patterns. All our dyes are Global Organic Textile Standards (G.O.T.S) Certified, and our fabric and processes are Craftmark Certified. Each of our Garments are proudly signed by every craftsperson who has had a hand in making it.
